St. Patrick's Day

As the great-granddaughter of an Irish immigrant who moved to the United States in hopes of a better life, St. Patrick's Day has always had a special place in my heart.
As a hopeful future missionary, a day celebrating a great missionary to the Irish people (however misguided the holiday may be) is special to me as well.

While we may spend this day wearing green, pinching those who are not, and watching big St. Patty's Day parades on TV, I hope we also remember the life's work of the man whose life we are celebrating.

These words, called "St. Patrick's Breastplate", were written in his honor three centuries after his death. I only can hope that I can live MY life daily with these words as my goal.

Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.

Forgetting?

I forget about you long enough to forget why I needed to...
